Though social distancing saves lives, we still crave community and connection in these uncertain times. Introducing Dam’d Social Cinema—our platform for sharing films, while staying connected. Our volunteers have hand-picked their favorite films to screen in the virtual cinema below.

While many venues and sites are offering films to stream or download on your own schedule, we think there’s something special about watching movies together at the same time. For this reason, social screenings will start at a scheduled time. (And just like our regular screenings, they’ll probably run a little late.) Screenings will be announced on the main page of our website and on social media, just as before.

They will also be interactive. Before each screening, one of our programmers will greet the audience and introduce the film here using Jitsi. Most screenings will include an intermission, so that you have time to make a snack or take a bathroom break. During intermission and after the screening, you’re welcome to discuss the film or just say hi. But there’s only one Echo we love, so during the movie we ask you to mute your microphone and use the chatbox below. Finally, if you’d like to talk on Jitsi during the breaks, be sure to wear a set of headphones.

We are not charging a ticket price for these screenings, and everyone is invited to join us. However, like many other small cultural organizations, we are struggling to stay afloat. If you are able to help us with a donation, scroll to the bottom of this page for our virtual tip jar.

Next screenings: Plan 10 from Outer Space with director Trent Harris on Saturday, May 30th @ 20:00
Plan 9 from Outer Space on Saturday, May 30th @ 22:00

Please note that the film will start slightly later than this, because we’ll be greeting the audience here on Jitsi.
